Substack Notes is my new IG feed, sorta
I'm going to start sharing random photos as I work on them
I recently put this image up on substack notes and two things were true when I did it.
The majority of what I care about in my own work never sees IG, or most anywhere.
I’m endlessly searching for the editing process that will satisfy whatever drives me and often I wont share something as I’m progressing because it might not feel like my work
Those two things and a desire to share more without pestering your inbox lead me to want to post to notes on a much more regular basis. Consider checking it out. The easiest way is to download the app and check the notes tab but I’ve included the boiler plate stuff substack says below. You decide.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to wide open, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
I think this is a good use of the Notes feature tbh, especially if you're not committed to long photo essays like.... some folks (lol). Because the photos don't wind up on this grid, the Notes layout also allows for more randomness, more happenstance, and overall variety -- Instagram's become too tightly regulated. Besides, I finally get to see some of those North Dakota photos, so this is a win for me.
